About VisaCalm
Our Mission
VisaCalm helps travellers navigate the visa application process with free tools and researched guides. We provide cover letter generators, trip planners, and visa requirement guides for 9+ countries — all verified against official government sources.
We believe that understanding visa requirements should not require expensive consultants or hours of confusing research. Our goal is to make the process transparent, accessible, and less stressful for travellers from every background.
VisaCalm covers visa requirements for popular destinations including the Schengen area, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE. Our guides include document checklists, processing times, fee breakdowns, application steps, and frequently asked questions — all researched from primary government sources.
How We Research & Verify
Every visa requirement guide on VisaCalm follows a structured editorial process:
- Primary source research — We reference official government portals, embassy websites, and authorised visa service providers (VFS Global, TLS Contact).
- Cross-verification — Requirements are checked against at least two independent official sources before publication.
- Regular updates — Visa requirements change frequently. We review guides monthly and update within 48 hours of confirmed policy changes.
- Editorial review — All content is reviewed by our editorial team before publication. We follow strict editorial guidelines to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Our sources include government visa portals such as gov.uk, travel.state.gov, canada.ca, and the European Commission.

Who We Are
VisaCalm is built by Iron Pig, an independent studio. We built this site because we went through the visa application process ourselves — multiple times, across different countries — and found the available information scattered, outdated, or buried in government PDFs that hadn't been updated in years.
Our team combines direct visa application experience across Schengen, UK, US, Canada, and Asian destinations with software development skills. We have personally applied for and received visas from multiple embassies, dealt with rejections, navigated appeals, and helped friends and family through their own applications. That first-hand experience shapes every guide we write.
We are transparent about our limitations: we are not immigration lawyers and we do not provide legal advice. What we do provide is carefully researched, regularly updated information sourced directly from official government portals. If you spot an error or outdated information, please let us know — we typically correct reported issues within 24 hours.
Our Content Standards
Visa information is high-stakes — wrong information can mean a rejected application, a missed trip, or wasted fees. We take that responsibility seriously and hold our content to strict standards:
- No misleading claims — We never say "guaranteed approval" or "100% success rate." Visa decisions are at the discretion of consular officers, and no guide can change that.
- Specific over vague — Where possible, we cite exact fee amounts, specific processing day ranges, and named regulations (such as EU Visa Code Article 32 for Schengen refusals or INA Section 214(b) for US denials).
- Dated information — Every page shows when it was last updated and verified. Visa rules change frequently, and readers deserve to know how recent our information is.
- Official sources only — We link directly to government portals (gov.uk, travel.state.gov, canada.ca, europa.eu, immi.homeaffairs.gov.au) rather than third-party blogs or forums.
- Honest about uncertainty — When rules are ambiguous or vary by consulate, we say so rather than presenting a single answer as definitive.
