How We Fund VisaCalm
VisaCalm is free to use. To keep it that way, some pages include affiliate links to travel products we genuinely recommend. When you purchase through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate partnerships never influence our editorial content. Our visa requirement information, guides, and document tools remain independent and objective.
Products We Recommend
We only recommend products that solve real problems for visa applicants. Here are the services we partner with and why:
Airalo — eSIM Data Plans
Visa applicants land in a new country and need data immediately for maps, translation apps, and ride-hailing. Airalo lets you set up an eSIM before departure so you have connectivity the moment you land — no airport SIM scams, no roaming charges.
Commission: approximately 10% per sale.
SafetyWing — Travel Insurance
SafetyWing is a travel insurance provider primarily designed for digital nomads and long-term travelers. We recommend it specifically for visa applicants who need their insurance visa letter quickly — their instant download feature is genuinely useful when your appointment is days away. For planned trips with normal timelines, traditional insurers like Allianz or AXA may offer better value and broader consulate acceptance.
Commission: 10% recurring. We disclose this because the recurring structure could create incentive to over-recommend — we limit our recommendation to the specific scenario where SafetyWing genuinely helps (urgent visa letter needs).
Wise — International Money Transfers
Visa applicants often need to pay fees in foreign currencies (GBP for UK visas, EUR for Schengen VFS fees). Wise uses the real exchange rate, which is typically 3-5x cheaper than a bank's international transfer fee.
Commission: up to £50 per referral.
PhotoAiD — Visa & Passport Photos
Every visa application requires compliant photos with specific size, background, and lighting requirements. PhotoAiD lets applicants take a photo from home and uses AI to verify it meets official embassy standards — saving a trip to a photo shop and reducing the risk of rejection due to non-compliant photos.
Commission: approximately 20–30% per sale.
Booking.com — Hotel Reservations
Most visa applications require proof of accommodation. Booking.com provides instant confirmation emails that can be included with your application. Many properties offer free cancellation, giving applicants flexibility while meeting application requirements.
Commission: 25–40% of Booking.com's commission per booking.
Skyscanner — Flight Search
A flight itinerary or booking confirmation is required for most visa applications. Skyscanner compares flights across hundreds of airlines to help applicants find the best fares and generate a booking confirmation for their application.
Commission: cost-per-action per redirect.
Kayak — Flight, Hotel & Car Search
Kayak is a meta-search engine that compares flights, hotels, and car rentals across hundreds of providers. For visa applicants, it helps find accommodation with free cancellation for proof of booking and compare flight prices across airlines for travel itinerary documentation.
Commission: revenue share (~$0.95 per click-out to booking providers) via KAYAK Affiliate Network.
How We Label Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are always marked with a "Partner link" label. Sections containing affiliate recommendations include a disclosure notice. All affiliate links open in a new tab with the rel="sponsored" attribute as recommended by Google.
Regulatory Compliance
Our affiliate disclosures comply with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code, which require that advertising and affiliate content is clearly identifiable and distinguished from editorial content. We also follow the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, which prohibits misleading commercial practices.
In practice, this means:
- Every affiliate link is marked with a "Partner link" label at the point of recommendation
- Sections containing affiliate recommendations include a clear disclosure notice
- Affiliate relationships do not influence our visa requirement information, processing times, fees, or document guidance
- We only recommend products we believe genuinely help visa applicants — we do not accept payment for editorial coverage
